Sometimes you just don't realise

Today I brought my 20 dollar bike to the bike workshop hoping to get some advice on how to overhaul it, and instead I had two old guys and a lady nerd out over how wacky my bike was for 40 minutes. I didn't realise 20 dollars could buy so much joy.
More and more often I wonder how unrecognizable the world will be by the time our children grow up. It seems as though we are beings of immense excess and desire, forever consigned to chasing after imaginary values which have meaning only because others have decided it also has meaning (money, likes, whatever). Some day archaeologists will look back upon this period of history and cite the times where we uprooted farming land to install a new data centre, and wonder why humans back then were so stupid as to remove a source of sustenance for a source of immense drain. I wonder if those archaeologists would be human...
I tried something less restraintive today. I read a translated version of this song's lyrics (Deserts Xuan is a very poetic songwriter) and was inspired. Here's an excerpt:
> Don't let tears become a guest of life
> Don't be constrained, be restrained, wait for regret.
> I like the eternal shortness of time, the active passive dim.
That last one reminds me of the beginning of The Unbearable Lightness of Being.
I took this photo on the bus, 25th July. I liked how the turn signals and the stop lights mixed on the ceiling.
